As a retired teacher with over 22 years of teaching experience, I spent over half of my career researching and learning how children with neurodivergences learn in the academic setting as well as the social and emotional impacts that corelate to their development. As I dove headfirst into research papers, medical journals and through countless hours of professional observations and data collecting, I began zeroing in on how the environment and daily routines within a school building affect children with Autism. At the suggestion of a parent to one of my first Special Education students, I began researching movement specifically and the effects movement had on the sensory system in children with Autism.
